In March, when I began the deck, I was sitting at an octogon-shaped wooden table looking out the kitchen window with a watercolor sketchbook and my paints. For a few weeks I had been painting oracle cards in this sketchbook to be used as a movie prop for an upcoming film I was working on with my partner.
Instead of painting another prop oracle card, I began painting the Queen of Cups instead. I visualized Dillon Beach, with the queen at the edge of the water with a golden cup and a starfish crown.
From there, I kept painting cards in locations all over the Bay Area in various cafés and at home. I didn’t stop for months until this day in October when they were all finished.
I couldn’t believe I painted them all since I had tried to begin a few other times previously and not been able to get past two or three cards. But it felt like there was a collaborative energy helping this time.
My next worry was that I might not like reading with them, but that was not the case. I’ve been reading Tarot with them for four years now and it is my favorite deck. I feel like I wasn’t alone when I created it and those energies come back every time I share them with anyone for a reading.
