What makes one Tarot reading “spot-on” and another just so-so? Hint, it has to do with where you place your focus.
When I give a Tarot reading, sometimes people ask, “Can my question be general?” or, “What is going to happen with my house?” To be clear, it’s completely fine to ask whatever question you like, but a general question will receive a general answer. And the answer to a question that doesn’t have anything to do with your own actions is going to feel vague.
It Begins with You
Sometimes that is what is called for in the moment. But if you are looking for more, the number one way to receive a clear, effective Tarot reading is to keep the focus on yourself and actions that you can take. It’s as simple as that. And it will help you formulate the question that is really on your mind.
For Example:
A woman is having trouble with her relationship and isn’t sure whether to stay or go. She could ask “do I stay or go?” And she might receive a vague, possibly confusing, and potentially alarming answer.
The Tarot will give her back the amount of confusion or clarity she puts in. If instead, she asks “This relationship doesn’t seem to be fulfilling my needs. How can I approach the relationship right now so I can have my needs met?” The cards will then give her effective tools to take action towards what she needs.
She may see the eight of cups, which may suggest she leave that relationship behind if she wants something she can’t get there. Or, alternately, she might see the three of cups and realize she needs to spend more time with friends to gain a new perspective. The Broom/Devil card may indicate that one or both people in the relationship has a bad habit that needs to be addressed before things can move forward. You get the idea.
The SparkTarot®deck in particular is designed around the feminine impulse to be kind and clever on our journeys, collaborating with others as we go. I painted each card with the intention for healing and progress.
Clear Questions are the Wise Woman’s way
With clear questions that focus on things you can actually control, you receive the power back to make effective change for yourself, without waiting for someone else to change or tell you what to do. Then, we realize that our goal is not to change others but to heal ourselves. It is not the hero’s journey but the wise woman’s way.
Try placing the focus on your own actions when you ask the Tarot a question. It will surprise you how spot-on it will be!
