When things get busy, our self-care in the morning and evening can be compromised . Our creative projects can get sidelined. Our work can be unfocused.
During the holiday season, I lean on ritual to help me focus, enjoy and relax into what can be a hectic time of year. In our family, there are also birthdays in addition to the usual multiple winter celebrations. Over the next few weeks, I’ll share some tricks for how I make the most of this time of year and enjoy it.

Some ancient cultures believe that this time is the beginning of the year, making it a good time to evaluate how we want to approach our lives. Especially now, ritual is more important than ever in order to achieve and maintain focus in our lives. Whatever you want to prioritize and accomplish, you can use ritual to make it happen.
Start simple: Where do you need more time?
Start with this month’s Tarot spread Messages From the Underground. It reliably shows me the deep wisdom I need to remember right now. It’s easy to get sidetracked with holiday shopping and meal planning but I can enjoy those things more when it’s rooted in what really matters. Those communications help me stay focused and relaxed at this liminal time of the year.
I like to pull a Tarot card as one of my most basic rituals. If you need extra support, pull a card and consider the places you’d like to expand time. What do you need to make time for? What is important to you?
